All Hail the Queen

COWLES CENTER Goodale Theater,

October 10th-14th, 2018

Celebrating the vagina.
Empowering womxn artists.
Creating challenging, humorous, research-driven dance.

Deborah Jinza Thayer | Movement Architecture’s All Hail the Queen examines the historically censored anatomies of womxn, specifically the voice and the vagina. All Hail the Queen is a dance installation—an immersive environment through which the audience travels to experience shifting cultural, historical, and somatic perspectives on “the female body.” All Hail the Queen counters the devaluation and dismissal of womxn’s bodies with celebratory, artistic energy.

All Hail the Queen is a collaboration between Choreographer Deborah Jinza Thayer, Melissa Birch (Text Artist, Performer) Composer, Janika Vandervelde, Amelia Biewald (Installation), Dancers Julia Davidson, Non Edwards, Erika Hansen, Christine Maginnis, Sharon Picasso, Eve Schulte, Erin Thompson, and Roxane Wallace, Ivan Idland (Costumes), Mary Plaster (Puppet) and Karin Olson (Lighting Design).

Deborah Jinza Thayer is a 2018 fiscal year recipient of an Artist Initiative Grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through grants from the Minnesota State Arts Board and Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund
